"Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand."
Psalm 73:23
In everything we do, we should remember that God is right there with us, guiding us every step of the way...if we let Him.
There are tough things we must do in life. Discipline a child, let an employee go, let a loved one pass on to meet Jesus. But God assures us that if we pray constantly for His guiding hand, He will be right there with us. What a comfort that is to know that when we call on Him for support, He will be there.
There are surely tough actions I need to take. But I pray that God's will be done. In that, I have assurance that those tough actions are what is best for me, for the other person, and for others. We must always remember to pray for His will to be done, not our will to be done.
God Bless!

John:
ReplyDeleteI find the petition "Thy will be done" to be one of the hardest things to grasp or accept. This is why I find the Small Catechim's explanation of it so helpful:
"What does this [Thy will be done] mean?
The good and gracious will of God is done even without our prayer, but we pray in this petition that it may be done among us also.
How is God’s will done?
God’s will is done when He breaks and hinders every evil plan and purpose of the devil, the world, and our sinful nature, which do not want us to hallow God’s name or let His kingdom come; and when He strengthens and keeps us firm in His Word and faith until we die. This is His good and gracious will."
