What are we glorifying?

Jack#%& 3D tops the box office. We have multiple flavors of Law & Order and CSI. Every night you can find TV shows that seem to glorify crime and crime fighting. Then there are the medical shows, all seeming to imply that if your spouse is in that field, they are going to systematically have affairs with every member of their staff.

What are we teaching our younger generations? It is all okay. It is all normal.

I have a problem with this. We spend one day a week at most honoring and glorifying God, and the other six glorifying the devil.

Pray that this trend reverses.

  1. John: I disagree with your assessment of the Law and Order and CSI franchises. I don't think they glorify crime. I think rather they dramatize what St. Paul talks about in the first few verses of Romans 13, namely that civil government bears the sword by God's authority to punish criminals.

  2. Mark: I don't have a problem punishing criminals. I don't even have a problem with the premise of a story about the law, or a police show. There were plenty when I was growing up (Hawaii Five-O, Kojak). I think my main problem is the themes and the graphic nature of today's television. Nothing is implied and it's just one more thing that dulls the senses to what is right and wrong. Just my opinion.
